The food is almost the same at El Allende (across from Harpers).  The lady who opened Guadalajara is the sister of the owner of El Allende and she worked there a long time.  They also have a lunch buffet and the chips and salsa is GREAT!  Give them a try if you haven't yet.

If you haven't tried El Allende down on Grandview across from Harper's Schwinn, (In the old, green Peking building, for you native Muscatinians here!) and you miss Guadalajara, you need to go.  They are without a doubt THE best Mexican place for miles.  With little kids, we do a lot of carry out, but we have also gone for a sit down lunch and dinner, and it never disappoints.  Their food is great, their salsa is amazing, and they also have a lunch buffet.  Service is very friendly, too.  If I recall, the people who opened Guadalajara actually used to work at El Allende before opening their own place.  My family has been to both, but we still prefer Allende's food. Before El Allende opened, we were without a decent Mexican place here for quite a while after Mi Pueblo closed.  Now we seem to have quite a selection.  Try El Allende if you haven't yet.  It's worth the drive to the south end of town.

Have a good one!

Hello We used to go to the one on Grandview Avenue all the time, until the one on Park Avenue opened up.  I think that they both have excellent authentic Mexican food, but, for SOME reason, we just prefer the one on Park Avenue.  MAYBE it's because ONE server can carry 8 plates at a time, that trips my trigger!  I'm STILL wondering were the other one was located, not that it matters now, but, just interested.  Was it the one @ the end of 2nd Street in the old bar/gym?  Has anybody tried the new one across from West Side store yet?  Never seems to have many cars there.  I love authentic Mexican food!  Juan.....I mean Tom.

The one that closed was in the old Cookie Crumbs building down on 2nd. I've been to the new one across from West Side and it's good. I like Las Lomas better, but still good. They do have specials everyday and some good deals. You can get a huge burrito for $5.
