Do you really believe that  the day after a Democrat is elected the situation in the Middle East will be solved? Do the Dems have posession of some majic forumula or wand that will make all radical Muslims instantlly love the "infidels." If so they should be charged with treason right now.

Herman - This is the problem as I see it. Republicans want us to believe that it takes some kind of magic formula or magic wand to bring our soldiers home. When in reality we can just put are boys (and Gals) on a plane and bring them home. No magic. To far to walk or swim. It might take a plane............

Glad you like the post.

That's right, I said it.

I know there's no magic wand or formula.  I just think our efforts should be concentrated more on Afghanistan than on Iraq.  The whole premise for invading the country was to rid them of WMD's.  None were found.  Someone either gave or had bad intelligence reports.

I can understand Bush invading the country because it was believed they had WMD's.  But when none were found, and Hussein was neutralized, why didn't we start sending our troops home?  Were we being baited by Iraq and Afghanistan?  Did they know we would respond with full military might and leave less soldiers at the home front so it would be easier for them to attack us again at our own front door?  Or did they intend to divide our country (like we are now) to demoralize us in an attempt to collapse our government?  Who knows.  I personally believe it's a little of both.

Though the radical Muslims may be savages, they aren't dumb.  Bin Laden should be our focus now.  Iraq is going to have to step up and start fending for itself.  We got rid of their tyrant leader for them and have trained their police and military.  Just some of my thoughts.  I have more, but will reserve them for another discussion if the situation arises.

As a personal note to this discussion, I have a brother and brother in law who have both served two tours in the Middle East.  I know what this does to a family.  It's not pretty.

the two muslim sects (shia/sunni) hate each other more than they hate us (the west).

the west (usa) can't moderate a civil war in iraq. we probably can contain afghanistan - pakistan is a whole other story. we have spent 1 month of our cost in iraq in all of afghanistan. it's time to get out of the way and let the real bloodletting begin in iraq.

we can still follow bin-laden and attempt to assassinate him without the massive effort in iraq or even afghanistan. f***  the arabs - the two muslim religious sects deserve each other.
