I agree 100 % with that. I do own a business and as an owner I have the right to allow smoking in my store, however I chose not to. I am also a smoker and those are both my rights. I do not like the government getting involved in my personal life.

 

No, I do not think the government should get involved, but they are involved and they will be involved until some of the people who complain get off their butts and vote, or write or call their congress person instead of just complain.  I would guarantee you that the people who are going to pass this law have not been in a neighborhood bar for a long time--if you have 8 bartenders 7 of them smoke, if you have 50 customers 48 of them smoke thats just the way it is.  But some do gooder is going to tell us how to live our life--  by the way I don't smoke but its still going to be shoved down our throats--bull

If the smoking ban does go into effect, one way a bar or any business can get away with it is to charge for a membership. Just as an example: If you wanted to go to Tailgaters after the smoking ban, they could charge as little as 1 cent and hand you a card saying your a member of Tailgaters. You have to carry that card with you to prove that you are a member, but that is a way that bar owners can get away with allowing you to smoke even with a smoking ban.

You think Iowans are stupid and backwards but it sounds like you would rather be in california....so why don't you move and be happy.Nobody is forced to do anything they don't want to do..If you think its to smokey then go somewhere else or stay home.If there was something you enjoyed doing and the government thought it was bad then you wouldn't like it either....And by the way I am a non smoker.
