We can relate!!

Our family had a membership for a year. We thought it would be a good place to take our children when the weather was bad and we couldn't do outdoor activities. The atmosphere does feel like a country club and there are a few employees are are VERY rude, even to members. There were times that we would just have to ask a question from the staff members and some of them were very snotty in their replies. Needless to say, because of their behavior we quit going and did not renew our membership this year. I think I know what woman you are talking about! We had similar experiences with her.

Response to ''Only in Muscatine''

I'm sorry the Seargant didn't call ahead of time to make arrangements to use the Y with his recruit. (The Muscatine Police Department regularly tests its personnel at the Y.) Many people don't understand that each Y is a separate organization with rules unique to the Y and the community the Y is located in.

Reply to ''The Y''

I agree with you, the Y needs a Family Locker Room in addition to the 4 locker rooms currently in use. The Changing Room is not adequate, but unfortunately this building was built about 2 years before the idea of a family locker room was wide spread. It will take an expansion and reconstruction of our current facility and the Board of Directors is working on it.

I'm sorry you had such a bad experience at the front desk. I am passing along your comments to their supervisor. We continue to work on doing a better job of serving our members and potential members and clearly in your case we fell short.

I'd just like to explain that Membership dues are based on what it costs us to operate the facility and the programs provided, which is about 2.3 million dollars. Donations from businesses and members help us make Community Partners memberships available to income eligible children and families. The Board of Directors is pleased to be able to hold membership dues at the same rate as last year, despite increases in minimum wage and the cost of energy. W
