has its way they would rather treat me for a smoking related illness then help me quit..With all the recent bans and Oprah's enlightening show on smoking, my husband and I have decided to quit our nasty expensive habit for good. We followed all of Dr. Oz's instructions, planned etc. Then we hit a bump in the road. The one that says call your doctor, get the prescription Chantix to aid in quitting for good. We called our health insurance provider, one of the biggest in Iowa, and one we pay hundreds of dollars to each month and asked if they covered the pill. No they told us, nor will they cover the dr.s visit or the exam by the doctor to gain the pill.I guess treating lung cancer and other related illnesses is cheaper then preventing it.By the time i added up the cost just to get the pill the $5.00 to get my nicotine fix looked better. We are still going to quit as planned only cold turkey but its nice to know that insurance companies are not behind us in trying.

joey maybe I can help!
I quit nine 10 years ago. Doesnt even remember how long anymore. I tried everything. I found away. Easy. If you really want to quit email me. I've got something for you that will help. No medication involved. It worked so well for me. And it won't cost you a dime.

My Thought
is that this is the kind of company that needs to be sued when a person gets cancer because of smoking. There are good, legitmate reasons for lawsuits and this is one.
I never smoked but all my brothers and sisters have but I cannot relate to your problem personally. I just know that going ''cold turkey'' can work if you are determined to quit and I think it is great you have set this as your goal. I wish you luck.

Smoking is a hard thing to walk away from. Chantix I'm told is very good at controlling the side effects of puting your smokes away. I can not say from personal experance, because I could not afford it. However, I did quit smoking. Like most things, I did it a little differently. I know you've heard about one day at a time. Ever hear of a minute at a time? I swear there was times I could hear the clock tic. So I need the comfort of having smokes without smoking. I carry a pack in my car and in my freezer still today. I can't tell you I'll never smoke again, but right now I'm not smoking. I guess that's the key, find out what works for you and run with it.
Good luck
Peace
