I haven't been on this board for over a week. I went back & read the negative responses about the Y.
I feel the need to respond, even though I respect many of you that had posts.
The original situation, by the original poster was unfortunate. (Recruiter & recruitee). The point was made that a call should have been made ahead of time. Employees of any ''business'' can only be trained for X amount of scenarios.
At a holiday gathering, I had many siblings & relatives that decided it would be nice to get some exercise? I had a pass. I called the Y & asked them if there was a limit & explained the situation. We all had a great time!
To the rest of the complaints, Susan Cory had a valid point! If you are not happy with the service, DON'T accept it; at a restraunt, a store or the Y! Get the name of the person that offended you & let their superior know! How else will they know?
The Y, the restraunts & stores you go to have a directive. The employees they hire may NOT share the same goals! It reflects on the establishment, but if you feel your needs haven't been met, it's OUR responsibility to let management know, before going to the community!
The woman you guys dealt with NEEDED TO BE reported! Don't allow her to continue! Don't allow a few hurt & angry feelings dictate your actions!
I know Susan Cory & many employees of the Y. They ALL put in MANY hours more than is expected! Their dedication is remarkable & none of the people that I know from the Y would EVER allow this woman to represent the beliefs of the Y! Help Susan deal with this woman! Report her & allow the chips to fall where they may.
Lil...I have been frustrated by the changing rooms as well. Susan addressed that. Make an apt. w/ Susan & share your frustrations. I swear, she will listen. She is so caring, loving & kind. She has given her life to make our Y a place to be proud of in this community. So many of the employees there have.
I'm speaking to all of you as a former employee of many years & as a /volunteer for the past several years.

I agree with you about Susan. I did address my concerns with her, and while she was sympathetic and understanding, it all boils down to money, and it just doesn't seem to be a priority with them. (not her specifically, but the board in general)

As the original post about The Y hinted, not everyone who works there shares her commitment.

But thanks for your thoughts.

Lil
Your opinion

is bias tlou. As I am bias about any person who has served for our country. I don't think they should have to call ahead. I think the Y should be honored to have them there.

Money Grabbing & Greedy

It is my understanding the wonderful ''Y'' has in excess of two (2) million dollars in a series of holding accounts for a rainy day. In listening to the County Board of Supervisors tape it was finally admitted.
The Y had the gall to ask for some money to support a day care effort at the Y, where the Y even ''rents'' space for this.
Its very understanding why they are embittered and short with everyone. The Board has only one religion, money. Why should they be nice, all they want is your money.
