Mt. Hope/Helix Heights Residents Association

Founded in 1982

The Mt Hope/Helix Heights Residents Association was founded by Anna Major, Warren Neilsen, Reynaldo Pisano, and Maria Riveroll.

Mission Statement

The Mission of the Mt Hope/Helix Heights Residents Association is to maintain an excellent quality of life for the residents.

Accomplishments

The closing of Dad's Place

The closing of several crack houses in the area

Several Neighborhood Cleanups that have removed over half a million tons of trash and recycled materials from our neighborhood.

Partnered with existing Neighborhood Watch Captains to promote the organization and educate the community in code enforcement.

Successful in maintaining on-going communication with the Police and other City Departments to maintain the social and environmental infrastructure.

Instrumental in getting mid-block and alley lights installed.

Pursued and succeeded in attaining alley improvements.

Have been holding monthly meetings since 1982, that have been well attended. The Police Department, the Fourth District Council Office, and other Deparments as requested by the members.

Successful in grant awards for the first five years of existence.

On-going education for all members in community revitalization.

Got $50,000 for landscaping for 36th Street from CalTrans.

Painted 5 homes working with Christmas in April Program with American Savings Bank, the Housing Commission and SEDC.

Blocked the street from going through Dennis V. Allen Park (in Gateway Center).
