Electric Outages: LG&E attended the June Council Meeting and advised they were undertaking a project to update and repair the power lines feeding our community. The project was successfully completed by the end of June. While we may continue to have the occasional outage precipitated by extreme weather conditions, we should not experience outages on a regular or extended basis, as we had been experiencing for years. If your electric goes out, call the normal LG&E trouble-reporting phone.

LG&E also clarified responsibilities regarding the removal of debris from any tree trimming performed by LG&E:
?· Normal trimming cycle ?– LG&E removes tree-trimming debris.
?· Storm debris ?– LG&E clears right of way only?—debris removal is the homeowner?’s responsibility.

Community Yard Sale: was held on Saturday, June 28th. The weather was beautiful, but only a dozen or so residences participated. Please let a Board member know if you prefer a fall or spring yard sale.

Drainage Ditch: The upkeep of the drainage ditch between Ashmoor and Claremoor is the responsibility of the homeowners on Claremoor Drive.

Trash Pickup - Holidays: Holidays that fall on a Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday, delay our Rumpke trash pickup to the next day (Thursday). For these delayed-day pickups, please wait until Wednesday to place your trash curbside.

Yard Waste: Rumpke will pick up all tree limbs, branches etc, if they are bundled together in 4?’ lengths, or placed in a trash container.

New Mayor: Susan Brown resigned as Mayor. She is getting married and moving out of the subdivision. Bill Daniel was appointed Interim Mayor. Anyone interested in running as a write-in candidate for Mayor on the November Ballot, please contact the Board of Elections. Write- in candidates must register with the Board of Elections, or their votes will not be counted.

New City Clerk: Janet Adams is resigning as City Clerk, effective September 30, 2003. Susan Brown has been appointed City Clerk effective October 1, 2003.

New Street Signs: The City Council approved a capital project to replace the current street signs and poles with new black aluminum poles and street signs. The project will cost approximately $6,000.

City of Moorland Ordinances: Did you know that the City of Moorland has a set of ordinances detailing homeowner/resident responsibilities? For example: Any new additions, structures, buildings or fences must obtain a Building Permit from the City before construction (contact Dave Chervenak for a Building Permit.) Grass must be kept mowed. Exterior structures must be maintained. Animals must be leashed. If everyone cooperates by keeping their house and yard maintained, we all benefit by having our City continue to be a desirable place to live!

Please contact Dwight Grammer if you need a copy of the City of Moorland Ordinances.

Mail Boxes: Many of our homeowner mail boxes and supports are in poor or deteriorating condition. Mailboxes are located on private property, and as such, are the homeowner?’s responsibility. Please take pride in your neighborhood, and work with your neighbors to repair or replace mailboxes and supports that have seen better days.

All residents are invited to attend the City of Moorland Council Meetings, held on the 1st Tuesday of each month at 7 p.m. at Lyndon City Hall on Wood Avenue.
