Millbrook Meadows

History

Millbrook Meadows Subdivision is located on the land formerly owned by John and Margaret Lietzke. The Lietzkes had operated a farm on the land and had a home and other buildings located on Norris Road just north of Howe Road. As the Lietzkes grew older, they were no longer able to operate the farm and land was put up for sale. Ted Powell bought portions of the 280-acre tract of land. His plans for the neighborhood were to have a New England theme. The New England theme was carried out in the names of the streets such as Andover, Manchester, and Westbrook, as well as the style of homes. The pump and well house also reflect the theme as it is in the shape of a New England style corncrib. Powell envisioned as few visible obstructions as possible. To accomplish this, he had all utilities located underground and mailboxes were arranged in several clusters along the main streets facing into the subdivision. The subdivision was designed to have ample greenbelt areas, places were no houses were to be built.
