About Our Club

Mile High Community Band

Welcome

Do you play a band instrument?

The Mile High Community Band is offering you an opportunity to participate in our unique organization that will expand your musical experience and enrich your life. We accept all ages from 9 through adult, are family friendly, and community orientated. We have grand parents, parents, non parents and kids learning and playing together.

We can accommodate several levels of playing ability, from intermediate to advanced. We have 3 levels of Concert band and a jazz band.

Our mission is to provide quality music instruction in a safe and educational environment for youth and adults. Through a variety of performances and other venues we are making opportunities for positive interactions between members and the community. Music and learning are life-long skills and we encourage members to further their musical education and knowledge.

Organization's History

The original Denver Junior Police Band began in 1937. For 50 years, the band provided music instruction, leadership training, discipline and performance opportunities for young men. This fine organization was dissolved in 1986. Through the combined efforts of Old Chicago Restaurants, Denver Police Protective Association, Denver Police Department, Denver Public Schools and the Mayor's Office of Art, Culture & Film, the Denver Junior Police Band was reestablished in Oct. 1994. Determined to uphold the strong traditions established by the original band, the new band provides consistent, high quality music instruction and opportunities for our members, male and female, young and old, and the community. In 2003 we changed our name to the Mile High Community Band to reflect what we are now.
