Memorial Heights Neighborhood Association

MEMORIAL HEIGHTS NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCAITION

As president of the Memorial Heights Neighborhood Association (MHNA),I started this particular association in the Spring of 98. Due to concerns of several residents to clean up the neighborhood, and to give a wake-up call for the residents of (MHNA) to get involved in community projects i.e. graffiti, we are seeing some positive changes. For example, we are working closely with our city officials Code Compliance and SAFFE officers, city councilman (Mr.Julian Castro and Mayor Ed Garza), and likewise they are responding to our concerns/compliants. Also, let us get involve and register to VOTE.

SLOWLY BUT SURELY

THE MEMORIAL HEIGHTS NEIGHBORHOOD ASSOCIATION HAS MADE SOME PROGRESS IN THE PAST FEW YEARS. WE HAVE BEEN WORKING ON A VERY CLOSE BASIS WITH OUR CITY COUNCILMAN, CODE COMPLIANCE, COUNCIL ACTION, AND S.A.F.F.E.OFFICERS. IN ADDITION, WE HAD OUR FIRST NEIGHBORHOOD SWEEP IN JULY 2001 AND THE SWEEP TOOK CARE OF NUMEROUS CODE COMPLIANCE ISSUES. WE WILL CONTINUE WORKING WITH THE CITY OF SAN ANTONIO TO KEEP OUR AREA CLEAN AND SAFE, IN THE BEST INTEREST OF OUR COMMUNITY, NEIGHBORHOOD, AND FAMILIES.

We Must Now work On Public Safety

As many of you might be aware we had a lost of life recently at the intersection of Rivas & NW 34th street. In a combine effort with the Edgewood Ind School Dist and other Associations we are asking the city council to work with us to get much needed stop signs and speed Humps throughout the area. Please work with us to get the done . Get Involved

About our association

Initial Meetings

The Memorial Heights Neightborhood association was created on October 1998.The purpose of the association is the bring residents both homeowners and renters to become more involve with the community. In the year 2000 the membership is now 250. Meetings are held on the first wednesday of the month. We meet at the memorial Public Library on Culebra rd at 7PM. Since the association has started there has been 308 code complaince cases filed. We have had installed 6 sets of speed humps, 5 stop signs and removed 105 junked cars. For over a decade people in the community have never known where to go to get things done city hall has forgotten the westside. Our City Councilman Ed Garza at that time had made it possible for first time for this westside community to get what it deserves.

Memorial Heights Neighborhood Association

As of today, our Neighborhood Association remains active and We (involved members and residents) of the Neighborhood Association have done a lot for our area/community. For example, the graffiti has decreased significantly, several NO DUMPING signs have been posted, we have installed speed humps to slow the traffic down in our streets. We have added stop signs as well. A Neighborhood Sweep was conducted in July 2001, and community beautification projects in different locations of our area. Also, our elected officials i.e. City Councilwoman Patty Radle and Edgewood school board members (Mr. J.Alcala and Mary Lou Mendoza) have attended some of our neighborhood meetings. In addition, our Code Compliance, SAFFE (SAPD), Council Action Officers remained active and frequent our neighborhood on a weekly basis.
Please let us continue, for the sake of our community, to keep involved in our community and advocate for our neighborhood. Should you have any questions, concerns, and issues contact Art Delgado at 433-5191 or our City Councilwoman -District 5 Patty Radle, or asked for Jennifer.
