HELP! with Japanese Beetles

Posted in: McIntyre Matters
The Japanese Beetles are killing me this year--they're SWARMING in my yard. I'm using bug bags, but it's still pretty bad. Does anybody have any tips?
Thanks!

Try some Sevin which you can purchase at Lowes. You can mix it and spray it on your trees. You can also try those Beetle Bags but they get full and start to smell from the heat.
We Can Prevent This Next Year

There is a natural way to prevent or at least limit the population of Japanese Beetles, but it's not very effective unless you get widespread participation. You can kill the larvae that are in the ground now and will become next year's beetles by applying milky spore, which is a natural substance. If we could get a lot of our neighborhood gardens to join together this summer, we could begin to make a difference for the next several years. Anybody interested?

hahaha... theres pretty much nothing you can do... i have two bags out and i'm only affecting about 5% of the beetles in my yard... we just have to wait it out until they breed and die... the reason there are so many is because we didnt have a harsh winter. usually we have later cold frosts that kill the eggs of the beetles but since we didnt, there are that many more beetles...
