Next Week - Thursday, May 28th 6:00pm
Mecklenburg County Commission Meeting & Citizens Forum
Char-Meck Government Center
600 E. 4th Street (4th & Davidson)

The Meck County Sheriffs Dept budget (jails)has been reduced by a $10 million cut from the current year, which includes a reduction due to a $4 million dollar revenue loss. Any additional cuts will have a significant impact on jail operations, programs, and community safety.

There will be a strong pressure from CMS to resist cuts as well, If successful, approximately $36 million will have to be found either by raising taxes (unlikely) or by further reducing County Services, namely public safety. We will advocate for a proportional reduction in all county budgets so that public safety will not be further impacted.
