Magnolia Heights Neighborhood Association

Become A Member?

Want to be a member of your neighborhood? It's easy. You can join at any of the Association meetings throughout the year. See the Calendar of Events for meeting dates and times. You can also join at one of our neighborhood functions such as the upcoming Neighborhood Yard Sale. If you wish, you can join via mail. Just send us a note with your name, address, email address, and a check for annual dues.

Annual Membership Dues: Individual - $12.00;   Family - $20.00

Why do we have dues? Postage, printing, advertising...these all cost money, usually more than we have. We do what we can with what we have. The more members we have the more we can do.

History

Written history for this neighborhood is scarce. The area was primarily citrus grove and farmland; there were also active beehives on 34th Street North. Apparently, the land was purchased by various developers; homeowners' deeds show their properties as belonging to Summit Heights, Virginia Heights, Euclid, Baker and other subdivisions.

A New Era

In 2004/2005, the Neighborhood Association decided to take a turn from convention and became an example of what a neighborhood can do if it wants to.

The City of St. Petersburg had a wonderful idea that by improving the City's neighborhoods you improve the City itself. They offered to help coordinate and fund public projects to improve, update, and beautify neighborhoods throughout the City. We decided to take them up on the offer.

Under an aggressive new leadership, the Association developed a "Neighborhood Plan". This Plan is made up of several projects including traffic calming, the redesigning of roadways through the neighborhood, new sidewalks, and beautification of public spaces. It took a lot of work and cooperation from people throughout the neighborhood to put this Plan together. It's an example of what people can do when we work together towards a common goal.

We're not done yet. We will continue to work to make our neighborhood one for current, and future, residents to be proud of.

About our association

Magnolia Heights

Magnolia Heights Neighborhood Association is made up of local residents who work together to promote and preserve the integrity of the neighborhood. Asociation meetings are currently held quarterly. Please see the Community Calendar for more information on meeting times and dates.

Neighborhood Association vs. Home Owner's Association

"Live And Let Live." This is our neighborhood's motto. Unlike a Home Owner's Association, where residents are required to be part of the status quo, we encourage individuality and imagination. While residents are required to comply with Codes set forth by the City, we will never try to tell anyone what color to paint their house or how to landscape their lawn.

Urban Paradise

Imagine a neighborhood with charming bungalows canopied by mature oaks, quiet streets, and is centrally located, literally within walking distance of all amenities including a thriving downtown district and beautiful beaches. Now imagine that same neighborhood where houses are still affordable. If you live here you need not imagine any of this. You already have it!
