proposed rezoning property
According to SouthGate at Fairview and Park Road opposite corner the following is coming up.
The hearing is scheduled for June 20,2011. and the city concil will vote on July 18, 2011. There is also aa informal meeting on Mon. May 2, 2011 at the Government Center at 5:00 with the petitioner and interested parties.
SouthGate is against the project and desires to keep the property multi family use which comliments the other 3 corners. There is no retails of course in this immediate area.

I personally think the intersection is too busy for such a business. It will not compliment the other residential corners at that intersection. I can't imagine cars lined up as they do sometime on South blocking the travel lanes. The lot is less than 2 acres.
A few years ago when the area plans for light rail station development meetings occurred city planning said they had no intentions of allowing the Tyvola Road nor the Woodlawn corridors change from residential in our area. Will this be the start????
Will Auto Bell close the South location leaving us with another empty building along South?
With a new car wash at Old Pineville Road and Tyvola and the current one at South Blvd. just how many car washes are needed on our borders! |

Agree that this location should not go commercial. The intersection is already too busy. |
