MOMS Club of Louisville--East

WHO WE ARE:

We are moms in Eastern Louisville, KY who have chosen to stay at home with our children.

Some of us have lived in Louisville our entire lives; some of us are new to the area. We all bring unique ideas, perspectives and goals to our chapter.

WHAT WE DO:

All of our activities are open to moms and children!

INFORMATIONAL SPEAKERS

At some of our monthly meetings we have informational speakers who offer knowledge, insight and support on a variety of topics, such as

* The procedures for applying to Jefferson County Public School system.

* The benefits of organic food.

* The importance of speaking with children about predator and animal safety.

* The benefits of mother/child fitness (with demonstrations included)


SEASONAL PARTIES

For the various seasons we have parties instead of monthly meetings. We offer the kids music, crafts, and storytime for kids and moms together.


AGE-APPROPRIATE PLAYGROUPS

Our playgroups meet at members' homes and public locations to give both kids and moms a chance to socialize during the day.


CHAPTER-WIDE FUN

At least monthly we have chapter-wide activities. During 2006, some of our activities have included:

*Tour of Bowman Field
*Tour and education session at KY Derby Museum
*Mother/child painting at The Artist in You
*Pumpkin picking at Tower View Farms.


MOMS NIGHT OUT

Once a month or so, we go out so all our moms can get a much-needed break.


HELPING HANDS

This committee provides meals, childcare and support to member moms in times of need (New baby, Family illness, Death in family)

HOW TO JOIN:

We have monthly meetings the 2nd Monday of every month at Ascension Lutheran Church on Shelbyville Road (near Lake Forest Subdivision) at 10:00 a.m.
