About our association

How Blue Spruce Neighborhood began

This association was first created in 1999, as a response to specific needs within the old base housing located at Lowry. Originally there were 886 housing units which were converted to rental units. Currently, there are only twelve Blue Spruce buildings remaining. These have been rehabbed and brought up to current code. There are 96 units here; of which 1/3 are transitional housing units and the remaining 2/3 are affordable rental units.

Our rental community has struggled with many things over the years;construction/safety concerns, crime prevention, recreation for residents and communication with LRA/leasing/other agencies. Interested community representatives, such as; LRA staff, leasing office staff, non-profit agencies, recreation centers, neighborhood police officers and residents all have come together over the years to give input and help create the old Landings at Lowry Neighborhood Association.

NOW, we are a subgroup of Lowry Neighbors, our association has shrunk to represent just the Blue Spruce area and we call ourselves LOWRY NEIGHBORS AT BLUE SPRUCE.

The founder of this association, Sharon Duwaik will be leaving for new employment as of July 9th, 2004. She will volunteer back in the community. She can be contacted at 303-364-8319 in the future. The association has gone through many ebbs and flows---with several residents being contact people for the Blue Spruce Community...currently there is not an assigned resident contact person.
