John T. White Neighborhood Association

Minutes of the Meetings

February 2009

Minutes of the John T. White Neighborhood Association
February 5, 2009
Lowery Road Elementary School

The meeting was opened by president DeDe Smith at 7:05 pm. There were 79 in attendance. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and on a motion by Sally Neasbitt, seconded by Mr. Foye Holland the minutes were approved. Sally Neasbitt gave the Treasurer’s report, indicating a balance in the Neighborhood Association funds of $820.03.

DeDe told residents who received letters from Dale Resources about a meeting to coincide with the Neighborhood Association meeting that the letters were sent in error and that Dale was not on the agenda.

DeDe discussed two zoning change requests that pertain to our area:
• Zoning Case ZC-07-208B for property at 650 and 800 John T. White Road, from “C” medium density multi-family to “A-10” one family. .
• Zoning Case ZC-08-036 for property at 651 John T. White Road, from “CF” Community Facilities and “E” Neighborhood Commercial to “CR” Low Density Multi-Family.
These property zoning changes were discussed at the Neighborhood Association meeting in December.

DeDe announced that at the Board of Adjustments meeting on February 4, the request by Chesapeake for a compressor station on the northeast corner of Cooks Lane and I-30 was denied with prejudice, meaning Chesapeake cannot reapply for the permit in the next 24 months without significant changes. Sally Neasbitt asked for a called meeting of the Neighborhood Association if Chesapeake files a new request to be acted upon before a regularly scheduled meeting of the association.

Mercedes Bolin and Justin Bond, representatives of Chesapeake, presented a slide show on compressor stations and their impact on the areas where they have been installed. They answered questions from the group.

The meeting adjourned at 8:25pm

Respectfully submitted,

Susan Kennemer
Secretary
