Do you know...

Do you know how Randol Mill Road got it's name?

From the Randol Mill that was on it. It was a Mill and the owners name was Randol, hence it was called Randol's Mill. The mill used a big wheel in the Trinity River that turned the mechanisn to grind the grain. Some residents say that parts of the big wheel are still out there!

I have been told that there is a historical marker for the mill on the North side of the Trinity River at the Northwest corner of the Precinct Line and Randol Mill Road intersection. Just walk about 100 yards West along the North side of the Trinity River and you should be able to see it sticking out of the grass.

If anyone should make this hike, would you take a picture for me to post on the website?

Did you know...

Did you know that Buzzy's nursery used to be on Lowery Road? Did you also know that the day they started getting things ready to start the business was the same day that JFK was shot?

Do you have any history info?

These articles are a few I have picked up from some of our residents who were there when it happened. If you know of any other stories or historical facts for our area, would you let me know? I would be glad to post them for everyone to share!

About our association

We are Neighbors

We are all neighbors and we work together to insure that our issues and concerns are addressed. We do this by working with City Staff, City Council, other Neighborhood Associations, Developers, and Businesses. Basically we work with whoever we need to make sure our "voice" is heard.

Do you live within the NA boundary?

If you live within our neighobrhood association (NA)boundaries you do!! How do you find out where the boundaries are? I will tell you.

If you live South of the Trinity River,
If you live on the North side of I-30 from Eastchase to West Drive,
If you live as far West as Fay Blvd (that's West of Williams Road),
If you live on the East side of Randol Mill (just North of Leisure Living),
then you have a neighborhood association.

Okay so you have a NA now what?
Contact me or check out our site here. Better yet come to our bi-monthly meetings, the dates for 2009 are: February 5 and April 2 on the first Thursday at 7:00 p.m. in the cafeteria of Lowery Road Elementary School.
The June 4 and August 6 meeting locations will be set at a later date due to the school being closed for summer break.
Then October 1 and December 3.
So I have a NA, what's the big deal?
Every NA deals with issues that are unique to their area. We work together to insure "responsible development" in our area, we work together to get our problems and concerns addressed, we are the voice for you.

Your neighborhood association works to help make our area the best it can be, so don't you want to make sure that your concerns are addressed? If you don't come and tell us how are we supposed to know what they are?

Well now you know where the NA meets, some of what we do and now you ask: What's the catch?
Well we have annual dues of $25.00 per household. But, if you do not want to became a member you can still attend our meetings, you can ask questions or bring up your own issues,
you just can't vote on any issues. It's that simple.

So check us out, even if it's just to see who lives around you. Try it, you might like it!
