I have only lived in Longview for a few months.  But I am already very disapointed in the parties running the Neiborhood Association.

I agree with your views on the parks and right of ways.  The west park is a eye sore and the association should be ashamed of this pool area.  It looks worse than any park and pool area in the poorest part of Tulsa.  The east pool apparently gets a lot more money allocated to it than the West pool area.  Why is that?  Does the East side of Mingo contribute more money than the owners on the West side of Mingo?  Even if this is true, with all the money that the association is collecting from the home owners in the lakeview area there should be more than enough money to maintain the parks and pools and right of ways.

When I first baught my home, I was told that the association fees were for the upkeep and maintance of the parks, pools and the right of ways.  With all the nice homes in this area, the association should be doing more for the neighborhood.  Where is the money from the dues going?  Is this why I am seeing so many homes up for sale in this area now?  If something is not done soon this neighborhood will deteriate to trash.  It seems to be someone is getting their pockets lined a little more than they should.

Today I was informed that in order for my family to use the East pool area, I would have to pay an additional $150.  WHY?  There are a lot of Neighborhood association in the Tulsa area that do not charge that outragious of a price and they have much nicer areas for parks and pools.  The neighborhood should be banning together and demanding change and accountability.  And doctored up financial reports saying what they want them to say should not suffice.

My family and I would be glad to get involved If someone would just let me know when and where the meetings are to be held.  This is nothing short of extortion and this community is allowing it.  WHY?

The probelm is everyone has be get involved, they will not listen to just one or two people.  Tell everyone you know in this neiborhood to have pride in their homes, get involved, and do not allow this to continue.

I grew up in this neighborhood and my parents still live in the same house.I just got off the phone with my mother and we had this EXACT conversation!! I was actually looking for the office number to give them a call and express my concerns when I came across this post. I could not have said it better!! The west side is totally getting ignored.WHY?

I have been considering moving back into the association, but after seeing and hearing first hand what the residents have to say, I think I have officially canceled that plan!
Longview Lake officials, you need to step up and take care of your ENTIRE neighborhood!

Come on down!  I've lived in the neighborhood for just over two years and started attending the meetings to get answers to the exact questions you are asking.  While attending the meeting in November, and speaking my peace, I was voted onto the board.  You know you must be the change you wish to see in the world.....and I'm trying!  Since my board appointment, there have only been a few homeowners attend meetings.

My position on the board is over maintenance.  My husband and I have been doing the work ourselves to save the HOA money.  During the ice storm (before my appointment to the board) we cut limbs, and stacked all along Mingo and other areas to make "OUR" neighborhood look better.  I know there is a broken picnic table in the West Park I could not help lift after my recent surgery and hope to move it soon.  We received a call one Friday night from a resident concered about water not flowing and cleaned the drainage ditches along Mingo that were filled with debris and leaves.  My husband and I volunteered about 17 hours at the East pool painting & doing repairs with the help of one other board member as pleas for volunteers in the neighborhood newsletter went unanswered.  We both work full time jobs and do the best we can and would welcome any and all volunteers.  As some are spending family time on the weekends, we shop at Lowe's etc. for items to fix the problem areas for "OUR" HOA.

The board meetings are held the second Monday of the month at the West Pool Office beginning at 6:30 p.m.  We would love to have your input and could use extra muscle.  I'll look forward to seeing you at the meeting on June 9th.  You might come a little early as we had to sweep the ceiling up off the carpet before the start of our last meeting.
