  • Respect-O-Meter: Respected Neighbor
Good evening, this is just a note to let you all know that the police were called this evening on a group of young men wandering aimlessly through our neighborhood disrespecting others property. I recognized a couple of the young men as being the kids on bikes from Sycamore Forge but the other 10 were foreign to me. The group ranged in ages from about 6 to 16 and were often heard mentioning the word mother followed by, well you get the picture. The point is, the kids were up in peoples yards on foot and bike with no regard for anything. Write this number down and call the police immediately if you see the group forming, this will give the officers a better chance to at least get the names and addresses of the kids involved. The number is 327-3811, that is the non emergency line, the dispatcher might direct you to the 911 site but that is so they can dispatch an officer quicker, this is completely annonymous, you don't have to give your name or address or anything. Lets do all of us a favor and get this thing stopped before it has a chance to escalate and become a more dangerous problem.
police responded

Thanks JBD,

I briefly talked to the Sheriff that responded and she informed me someone had called about the kids. I told her about the new graffiti on our Georgetwon entrance wall, but not sure she'll log it in her records.

The timing seems too much of a coincidence, and I wonder if the kids are responsible for the new graffiti that appeared today.

Kids up to no good

That group was roaming all up and down Oakforge Lane, just looking for trouble. I had to confront 3 of them for cutting through my yard. This occurred around 8:30 p.m. yesterday evening. WHERE ARE THEIR PARENTS?

What happened to the ''good'' families that previously lived in our neighborhood? We have lived in this community for 14 years. The past 3 years have shown a steady decline in the caliber of people who live here. Parents let their kids roam wherever they want to go. Trash is blowing all over the neighborhood. Kids walk up and down the streets yelling profanity at all who dare to pass by.

This formerly good neighborhood has gone straight to hell. It is no longer a place for nice people to live.

Don't Give Up

Chill out now, it might be a little early to sit in the garage with the engine running. Yes, we have seen some decline in our neighborhoods community cooperation but that doesn't mean it is time to throw in the towel. There are many nice homes in our community with many nice families and individuals. I hate to keep sounding like the skipping record here but it is all about community involvement. If those of us who do care enlist the neighbors in our community that have up until now remained silent and inactive to participate in our community, we then can save it. Spread the word, get involved. Karen Hoff is starting a Crime Watch group that is just begging for participation, get involved. You asked the question ''Where are the parents?''. The parents are probably inside making dinner after working all day trying to make ends meet and might not exactly know what their children are up to, it will then become our jobs as concerned neighbors to inform them of what they do not know. Send the addresses of the kids you know are involved to our rep at Affordable HOA, Cindy Dean, and we will send a letter to the parents advising them of what we will be doing in the event of seeing multiple groups of kids disrespecting others property even if they are neighborhood kids. The police will be called and sooner or later their good boys will be hauled to jail. With the recent onslaught of gang tagging we can ill afford, as a community, to allow the unsupervised or random wandering of groups of kids through our neighborhood. Again, the non emergency number for the police is 327-3811, use it, you will be helping us all.
