Street Paving

Posted in: Houston Acres

What was decided regarding paving the streets in Houston Acres?  They don't really look to bad to the average person.  Curious as to why the roads NEED to be repaived?

Also if/when they are repaved what will be going down?  The black top looking stuff or the same stuff that is down now?  What will happen to driveways?  Will there be a dip in the driveways going from the road into your drive?

The decision to repave was passed at the April meeting. They will be ground down and an 1-1/2" of new asphalt will be replaced.(sometime during thr summer) We have had several company's over the last three years tell us that they should be repaved. With the cracks and pot holes appearing more rapidly we want to keep from getting down to the base.Over the last two years we have patched at a average cost of 5000.00 per year.Patching is just a band-ade an the majority of residents would rather do it correctly. They were done in early 90s with a life of 7-10 years.

We sent a survey and held several public hearings and the majority agree we need to do now before they are worse and the cost would be astronomical. The entrance to your driveway will not change. Other than some loud noise during grinding and stricter parking restriction our roads will be good for hopefully another 25 years.
