Has Melrose Apts been bought by Charlotte housing?

Posted in: Madison Park

I am not computer literate haha I messed up my first post.I was wondering if anyone had heard that Charlotte Housing had bought the Melrose Apts on Woodlawn? If they have it does'nt bode well for our property values.I have live in Madison Park since 1959 on Drexmore Ave.

I called the complex to ask...only was able to connect with a voice machine.

I looked on the tax records and it says

Owner Name Mailing Address   City/State
H K PROPERTIES OF THE CAROLINAS LLC 109 WILESDEN DR   CARY NC 27513

I did find this article from 11/7/08 less than 1 year ago in the Charlotte Business Journal

If I hear back or can confirm your post I will post what I find out on this site.

I sent Patsy Kinsey an e-mail.  She will know the status and provide us with an informed answer.   That side of E. Woodlawn is in her District.

Sorry to say it appears this is true.......

Fairfield Development had big plans for Woodlawn House two years ago.

Now the property belongs to the Charlotte Housing Authority. And it’s part of the agency’s aggressive new program to acquire and rehabilitate multifamily properties in neighborhoods that might otherwise resist affordable housing.

Fairfield bought the rundown apartments near Park Road Shopping

I wish Fairfield had put plowed them both down!
