Youth Ministry at Zion Lutheran Church is:
the opportunity for the sons and daughters of the congregation and their friends to celebrate God's love, grow in God's grace, and serve God's people.
ministry by and with youth, not something done to or for youth.
allowing opportunities for youth to be fully involved in their church to give of their gifts and to be fed by the worshipping community we call Zion Lutheran Church.
forming Christ-centered relationships between students and adults and other students.
meeting students needs for spiritual worship, education and fellowship and providing opportunities for service in the name of Christ.
Zion Lutheran Church has three divisions of youth groups:
High League - includes youth who have completed 8th grade through 12th grade. These youth gather at least weekly throughout the school year. Events may include canoeing, swimming, Luther Youth Weekend, Wartburg Youth Weekend, LYO Synod Events, CROP Walk, Loaves & Fishes, and much more.
Middle League - includes youth who have completed 5th grade through 7th grade. These youth meet at least weekly throughout the school year. Events may include ice skating, canoeing, Adventureland, Easter breakfast, Loaves & Fishes, CROP Walk, and much more.
Little League - includes youth who have completed 2nd grade through 4th grade. These youth meeting at least quarterly throughout the year. Events may include roller skating, fall party, Reformation party, St Patrick's Day party, Easter egg hunt, Loaves & Fishes, Easter breakfast, CROP Walk, and much more.
Parents are always welcome to join their youth at any and/or all events. They are also welcome to join the Youth Ministry Committee to help plan, implement and suervise events. If interested in joining the Youth Ministry Committee contact Lance Rowell at 264-3691.
The guidelines for behavior are as follows:
Youth are expected to participate in a positive manner including language, conduct, and relationships to others in all activities.
The use of any drugs, alcohol or mind/mood altering substance or any other infractions of the law will not be permitted.
Youth are expected to cooperate with adults sponsors and represent the church and group in a positive manner.
Curfew and check-in times must be obeyed.
Violations of the Guidelines will results in immediate notification of partents. The youth will be sent home at the parents expense and may be prohibited from further activities with the group.
