HOA fees

An association is defined by websters dictionary as, ''an organization of persons having a common interest.''

I was appalled to see that our association was raising the annual fees, especially after they did not spend the money collected by last years fees.

Why does the association need more money when you havn't even spent the money from last year?

It does not seem that this was in the interest of the entire association. It only benefits the few who get to keep the money not used.

YOU SHOULD GIVE THE MONEY NOT NEEDED BACK TO THE ASSOCIATION = THE HOMEOWNERS.

Sean, I'm sorry no one posted a reply to your post. I live in Bella Vista in North Tampa. We too have fees that were not expended and yet our dues were raised. Our board had over $7,000 left over. There is no project budgeted for this money either that I'm aware of. It's creative accounting from what I see. I suggest you request a detailed ledger report by expense and see where your money was spent. You might get out and get some interested people such as yourself to meet and discuss what's going on with your HOA. Have a monthly get together somewhere, maybe your place. Don't expect a lot of people to show but be gracious with those that do. You might be surprised and then you'll soon see how your money's being spent and you and your group might come up with some ways to suggest to the board at their next meeting how to save money on your fees. It's all I know how to do. You can work with the board or you can work against them but working against them won't gain you any support, only enemies. I welcome your response and look to more discussion in these times of financial irresponsibility from our governments and elected officials.
