Weather Reports

Greg, with your weather reports, do you have the means to report any radation detections

Unfortunately, no.  When initially conceived and implimented, MEWS grew out of an elementary school demonstration project.  The goal of the project was rural public education reform in Thailand.  Of course, budget is a problem in rural schools, so we took a no tech/low tech approach to make it more likely for schools to try the progam.  As it was, the integration of math, science, geography, English, and technology into outdoor interactive learning modules was a monumental hurdle in teaching styles for the conservative Thai educational bureaucracy.....heck, it was not even an easy sell at the US community college where I taught before retiring either.

I am not sure if there is a low-cost solution to measuring this variable.  If you have suggestions about a low-cost way to do this, even if the results are coarse, I would be very interested as it is an increasingly important concern since the Fuk/nuke fiasco. You can email me direct at rtc2k5@gmail.com if you like.

For now, only surface wind observations would come the closest to "assuming it's headed our way" based on the geography of your location relative to the source of the radiation.

Thanks for asking.
