Glendora Emergency Response Communications

Hello,

My name is Stephen Meyer, I am a ham (KI6TXR) and a residnet of Glendora.  I am the one who posted about my antenna mast on the GERC website.  I know that we do not know each other, but I am in need of communications assistance from fellow Hams.  A ham friend of mine, Bob Pestolesi (N6GYD), is in charge of the communications support for the Mt. Sac cross-country running event at Mt. Sac community college.  He is in dire need of some hams to assist with the event which is this Saturday, 10/23.  We have already attempted to get help from our RACES group, Irvine Disaster Emergency Commnications (IDEC), with only limited success.  We are still in need of communictaors.
 
The event runs from 7am-6pm.  We could use four hams (if more want to show up, we can use more).  They can work the whole event or work a morning or afternoon shift.  If you can help, it would be greatly appreciated.  Please contact me with any questions and so we can coordinate your response if you can help!  I will also post this request on the GERC website.

Thanks for the invitation, Stephen!  I have put out a call to the hams on my list, and will keep my fingers crossed that you get some responses. This might be a great opportunity for a few  hams in my group who are inexperienced  with events like this.  GERC does a 5 k Run event every year in July, so many of our hams are seasoned with this type of event.  Also some of our hams I e-mailed have done the Baker to Vegas Run, the AC 100, and 5K Run events at the Rose Bowl.

Thank you to Mark for quickly responding to my initial email and putting it out to the group.  Thanks to Shane and Tom for coming out and playing all day at the event.  I also appreciate all of those who responded even though not everyone was able to make it.  It's good to know that there are hams who are willing to help in a pinch!  Thanks again.
