Meeting Minutes for january 18,2001

The January 18, 2001, General Membership meeting of Gaffney Lane Neighborhood Association (GLNA)
was called to order by Chairman, Derrick Beneville at 7:10 PM. Twenty members were in attendance. The following is a summarized version of the minutes:

Speakers:
* Ron Stewart from the Oregon City School District gave an update on the School District?’s Bond and what changes are coming to Gaffney Lane once school is out in June. He also provided information on the new High School.

Announcements:
* Gary Hewitt, new City Commissioner gave an overview of his ideas as Commissioner. He can be
reached at 503-657-0891 ext. 541.
* Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue gave a reminder to check your smoke detectors on a regular basis and change the batteries when you reset your clocks each Spring and Fall.
* The City?’s Transportation System Plan will be open to public comment at either the January 22nd
Planning Commission meeting or the February 21st City Commission meeting.

Unfinished Business:
* Treasurer?’s report: Checking account balance is $268.49, Savings account balance is $312.74 for a
total of $581.23. A motion was made to approve the report as read and passed.
* Land Use issues reported included: 1) a pre-application for a parcel on Meyers Road to be annexed into the City; 2) a application for a pre-manufactured building to be constructed in the lot behind Get & Go Market?’s building; 3) a pre-application for the new classrooms at Gaffney Lane Elementary.
* Street Signs: Derrick reported that the signs are finished and the City will be installing them around our neighborhood association.
* Chief?’s Advisory Update: we still need a representative to attend.

New Business:
* Discussed proposed neighborhood community service projects: 1) place park benches around the neighborhood for people to rest on while they are out walking; 2) help fix up an elderly persons yard and possibly paint the house. Derrick will get more information.
* April 21st is the City-wide Clean Up. A suggestion was made to do a neighborhood clean up along Meyers Road. More info to follow.
* The next meeting will be held March 15, 2001, at 7:00 PM at Gaffney Lane Elementary School.
