The Corps

The Fleur de Lis Recovery Corps is a non-political, diverse group of native New Orleanians and friends of New Orleans who will match volunteer's time and resources to rebirth and rebuilding initiatives for the City of New Orleans and it's surrounding region.

Members will commit to volunteer either remotely or locally focused on specific issues and initiatives based upon their particular set of interests and personal skills profile.

Group members will commit to driving progress for the entire New Orleans community through honesty, integrity, and transparency in all dealings with government and the private sector.

Collaboration and Cooperation

Our group aims to develop, coordinate and expedite original or existing ideas, that promote the recovery of New Orleans and the surrounding region, through examination and critique of those ideas. This includes identifying needs, risks, pros, cons, resources and contacts. The goal is to create high level solutions leading to calls for volunteers, implementation plans, grant proposals or non-profit launches.

The motivation is to create a sustainable and adaptable environment to live and work, that capitalizes on the region's resources, while also leveraging modern technologies for the benefit of its citizens.

Key challenges are a crippled infrastructure due to the effects of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita coupled with urban decay. Focus areas are Business, City Cleanup, Community Networking, Crime, Disaster Preparedness, Education, Flood Protection, Health Care, Housing, Insurance, Public Works And Utilities, and Volunteering. Common challenges are a lack of time, money, resources and coordination.
