Is there a list of key intersections and names of who should be salting them? I did not see one intersection salted this week. Who is responsible for this program. Is Carlsen and Furman on this list.

Thanks

B.W.

Dear B.W.

Yes, Carlsen & Furman is terrible. But some of us are older that are suppose to salt those streets. We load the salt in our cars and try to slide over to your street to make it comfortable for you.   But We are looking for someone to help us.. Are you available? Call Don Griffith at 241-0588 and he will get your salt. You would be a good one for this if you are at this corner a lot. Thanks for your help.. Pat Wood.Vice Pres. Farley.

I do not live at this corner. I live on 13th. I have noticed this seems to be the slickest intersection in Farley.

Its not about making it comfortable for me. Its about making it safe for all including the young boy (maybe 7 years old) that was nearly ran over (literally missed by inches) by a S.U.V. that slid through the intersection. I came to this website to post something for parents to watch their children. However I noticed the neighborhood has taken the responsibility to salt intersections so I thought I would follow up on why this isnt being done.

I have been salting the area around Doris Drive as it approaches Girls School Road.  I can confidently say that this intersection was free from ice during the entire icecapades last week.  Additionally, my sons salted Farley and 13th, Farley and Doris, Farley and Furman, and 13th and Eleanor on Tues December 28th.  We were out of town on the 26th and 27th with the holidays.  All of the folks who salt do so as volunteers.  Salting of the streets is not part of our charter for the neighborhood association but is performed by volunteers and organized by the members of the board to make Farley a little nicer place to live.  We cannot guarantee that every intersection will be free from ice all winter long.  We do the best that we can when we can.  Let me know if you would like to help.   Pat Colcord   pcolcord@comcast.net
