The other day I noticed the metal expansion joint was sticking up in the west bound lane on the bridge between 42nd & 45th and Blue Mound Rd.   I have notified the city of this issue and they are checking into it.  Please exercise caution when using this bridge.  This issue can cause a flat tire or ruin your front end alignment on your car. 

Thanks for letting us know.  I use that bridge nearly every day and certainly do not need any damage done to my car.  I get plenty of that in the spring with our lovely potholes.

Well they took out the piece of metal but it looks like the hole is gonna get bigger. Also there is a small piece of tht bar that looks pointy sticking up slightly so still be careful. The road too is chipping away slowly as the trucks from Miller run over it.

I have sent Alderman Murphy several emails about the bridge and the only response I got was that he was going to have his assistance come out to look at the bridge.  I have also questioned him about the condition of Wells Street, the pot holes are horrible.   From what I am understanding the city wants Miller to pay for part of the repair cost, but I believe Miller is refusing to do so.  But I cannot confirm that this is the whole issue. 

In the meantime the road gets patched which I believe makes the street worse because when the trucks slow to a stop they just rut up the patches.  I also noticed that there is a area where water is actually coming up from the road. I was told that there is a natural spring under the road.
