It's my understanding after a conversation with the Alderman last fall, that the redo of the area of Wells street you mentioned has been moved up to this year sometime.

I too have noticed what looks like an ever widenng "crack" where the metal was taken out.

Obviously it is the constant semi-traffic from Miller which is destroying these roads, including curbs and repeatedly knocking down signs. They seem to forget other people need the use of these roads.

I will be seeing the Alderman in the next few weeks and will ask him about these issues and report back to all of you!

Here is the City Engineers reply regarding the problem with the Bluemound Bridge:

"A plow hit the expansion joint on this bridge.  We removed the portion of the joint that was bent upward by the plow.  The portion of the expansion joint is in the roadway and not on the sidewalk.  The "big gap" is not that big (4" to 5" wide) and vehicles do not have any problem driving over this joint.

Bridge Maintenance plans to have this joint repaired within the next four weeks.  This repair work involves concrete work and the temperatures need to a little more favorable (warmer).  We do not want to impact any traffic for the Brewers so that's why we want to hurry with our repair.  This gap poses no hazard to vehicular traffic."

Thanks for the update.  The other day we noticed that their is now a gap on the topside of the bridge.  Hopefully that will get repaired too. If they want to get the small bridge repaired before the Brewer Season, then I doubt that they will be repairing Wells Street anytime soon.  The season starts in approx 25 days.

You may be right on that!! I got an email today that it is being looked into as to the start date and someone will be getting back to me soon.

All the truck traffic on Bluemound, 44th St. and Wells St.  is frustrating because the State (our tax dollars at work) some years ago paid to rebuild a more stucturally sound road and widen State Street through the Brewery to accomodate Millers' trucking. That's when they used the other side of the yard to exit and enter out to State Street.
