East Main Street Neighborhood Association

Getting to Know Everyone!

On April 2, 2009, a small group of residents from Priscilla Street (100 & 200 block), Bell Avenue, Phillips Avenue, East Main Street, North & South Saratoga and White Street gathered together to share ideas about forming a Neighborhood Association. While there were many concerns voiced, it appears that crime in the city, specifically in our neighborhood, was the number one issue on everyone’s mind. It was unanimous that something needs to be done, and unless we come together and speak up, things are never going to change.

This meeting was spearheaded by two residents from the Bell Avenue area. Larry Dodd and Denyse Horseman put their heads together and decided to come up with a plan to get all their neighbors involved in cleaning up the neighborhood. This idea prompted the gathering which occurred on April 2nd, at the Epilepsy Association at 688 East Main Street. A number of members from other Neighborhood Associations were present at this meeting and offered ideas and guidance for forming such an alliance.

It was decided at this meeting to continue to meet on a regular basis and combine everyone’s efforts and knowledge to form an association to better our community.

The Association will be meeting on the second Thursday of each month, unless notified otherwise.
