I couldn't believe me eyes when I saw the signage on the laundry mat window on 205th Street! I'm so excited! It seems that I'm not alone in my battle to make a difference!

I have been on a mission to re-create the old 204th and 205th Street that grew up on. It saddens me to see how some folks in the area just don't care about how the neighborhood looks. I'm tired of seeing the dog poop, the garbage, the BBQs and kiddy pools (yes, kiddy pools!) in front of buildings...I can go on and on!

311 has become my new best friend. I'm constantly calling them to report garbage, graffiti and just plain old negligence from property owners. Everyone should be utilizing 311 as their "go to" service because they will come out and clean lots, streets, etc.

I'm desperately trying to put up tree guards, no littering sign, curb your dog sings, plant flowers to brighten up the neighborhood...just about anything to get this neighborhood motivated to do SOMETHING!

On my way to my co-op, I can't help but to smile when I see the white picket fence, flowers and other decoratives items a good neighbor took the time to do for their tree. If you know who she or he is, please extend a big thank you!!! I certainly appreciate it (hence the dog poop!).

If anyone is interested in starting project initiatives, please email me. I can get a bunch of people to help as well. I know many of the superintendents in the area and have no problem soliciting help! I'm not shy!

On another note, Community Board 7 is having their General Board meeting on June 19th (6:30pm to 8:30pm) at NY Botanical Garden located at 2900 Southern Boulevard at the Visitor's Center Cafe.
