On April 19, 2008 ECCANDC Executive board changed. Ernie Mixon will assume the Chairmanship with Lorna Ward (new appointnment) as co chairman.
The incoming board will have their work cut out for them and really hit the ground hard to begin to make an impact on the quality of life issues facing the community. One of the priorities should surely be on outreaching to the community and getting stakeholder involvement, we must take the initiative in giving the stakeholders a valid reason for investing their time and energy into the ECCANDC. We must begin to have dialoge with Councilman Bernard Parks and the assigned Field Deputy, there has to be a greater investment on behalf of all the Board Members to get more involved in their community and come to the meetings prepared to hear the concerns of the community.
Moving forward !
The Empowerment Congress Central Area Neighborhood Development Council’s mission has been to work with stakeholders to improve the quality of life in communities within the Central Area Neighborhood Council boundaries. The Governing Body is responsible for identifying community concerns and works with City officials to identify resources to address issues and develop solutions. The mission of the Governing Body has been to (a) Engage residents in efforts to create safer and healthier environments; (b) Educate constituents to make more informed decisions regarding the condition of their neighborhoods and (c) Empower stakeholders to effect positive change in their communities.
