DHNA -Who Are We?

The Donelson-Hermitage Neighborhood Association , Inc. is made up of ordinary people representing dozens of neighborhood groups and homeowner associations, as well as individual neighbors, who have joined together to maintain and improve the residential quality of life in the Donelson-Hermitage community.

Our goal is to network area neighbors together, share ideas, support one another, protect what we hold dear from our past while providing opportunities for resident voices to be heard when planning for the future.

DHNA-The Beginning

DHNA began in the late 1980’s when a small group of neighbors from Donelson-Hermitage came together to oppose a 600 acre development in the bend of the Stones River because it was incompatible with existing neighborhoods. When city officials later decided to use the same 600 acres as Nashville’s city dump, DHNA worked to protect their community again. Both projects were defeated. Neighbors quickly came to realize that they stood stronger when they stood together.

DHNA-The Next Generation

Following in the footsteps of their predecessors, neighbors from the next generation revitalized DHNA in 2005. Their goal was to continue to protect the quality of life in our community, use the latest technology to network neighbors together, and provide neighbors opportunities to become active participants to make our community a better place in which to live and work.
