Crestlake Homeowners Association

Beginnings

The Crestlake subdivision (a/k/a Foster Meadows, Unit 3) was 5 years into development when community members gathered to organize a homeowners association. David Anderson Homes, Inc., the development company, was just completing the last of its homes in the subdivision. A small group of home owners gathered as a planning group in order to form and estblish the Crestlake Homeowners Association. The goal of this group was to promote and enhance the quality of life in the subdivision. Its work led to the incorporation of the association which incorporation was entered into record on the 25th day of May, 2000(see City of San Antonio, 2001-0099128, vol. 8920, pg. 0755). By definition "the association is a group of homeowners that cares about the future of its community and its homes" (Bylaws of Chrestlake Homeowners Association, Inc. p.1)

Mission Statement

The association is proud of its mission as an organization, viz. "to sparkle through the care its homeowners have for the health, integrity, and safety of thier community....It is the belieff of community members that the decisions that members make today establish the infrastructure, the quality of life, and the direction of our community for generations to come" The primary responsibility of the association, therefore, is to its community.

The Mission and ByLaws

"It is the belief of community members that the decisions that the members make today establish the infrastructure, the quality of life, and the directions of our community for generations to come. Our primary responsibility...is to our community.

Homeowners in the Association are committed to the following:

*to act in ways that promote a respectable neighborhood
*to foster trust, respect, and open communications within the community
*to act honestly and straightforwardly
*to be fair, ethical, and consistent in maintaining the Crestlake community

Association members will work in partnership with one another to achieve the following:

*a safe neighborhood
*an economically sound and physically attractive community.
*a high quality of life
*a robust participation in community actitities
*opportunity and assistance that enables members to meet our community needs
*friendship within the neighborhood
*integrity of our communityh through the restrictive covenants
*fair market property values, and
*support of the financial obligations to the Crestlake Homeowners Association.

At the time of closing on a purchase of a home in the Crestlake community, owners agree to abide by the Restrictive Covenants of the subdivision (executed by Morton/Southwest Company and applicable to the Properties recorded in the Volume 9516, Page 26 of the Official Public records of real Poperty records of Bexar County, Texas). These covenants constitute the "law" which governs the ownership, use, and care of properties within the Crestlake subdivision.

Governance, Meetings, and Activities

Governance is laid out in the bylaws of the association. A Board of Officers (President, Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, and Sergeant-at-Arms)provides leadership for the community. But it is the community members themselves that fosters the community life in the subdivision through a variety of activities: Bi-monthly meetings, Neighborhood Nights Out, Holiday Decoration Contest, Annual Holiday Members Dinner, Yard-of-the-Month program, and Annual Community Garage Sale.

The Association maintains a bi-monthy newsletter and annualy distributes to all community members a Crestlake Community Calendar which is made possible through the support of advertising from members of our generous business community some of whom are Crestlake Homeowners Association members.
