The Envision Garland excercise was held on Sat 21. 10 working groups brought forth their ideas based on a preset list of topics.City staff served as neutral coordinators and recorders .This was a challenge for some. The total group then came together to deliver their ideas and answer more questions.the program went from 9 AM to 3PM.
It was apparent that the GPD, GFD were highly regarded. Issues that were shared centered around code inforcement, too many car lots, stablilizing neighborhoods, redeveloping the old shopping centers, insituting a kind of planning as was done under the implimentation committees for local input , needing cool , shady places , new places to attract younger residents, transit development, looking at senior needs and more.It will not continue to more public input after the results are examined including the notes on all the pads .It really needs to have all of us speak up and to see how the staff will actually handle the information.We cannot leave this ,as the mayor stated, just to the staff and politicians.
