In 1978 Hedlund Homes, a California builder, began building unique houses in the area to be known as Cherry Creek Racquet Club. In the beginning there were six models. Four of those models are available for you to see in the Community Pages area of this website. CCRC houses are semi-custom. The original owners chose a model and then amended the model to suit their needs. Today it is difficult to find any of the six models in their original form. The builder accommodated the wishes of the owners by changing the plan to move the garage, extend upper levels, change the roof type, make a house larger, more open, or moving kitchens, bedrooms, living rooms, etc. to suit the original owner. Many CCRC homes are open with few closed-in rooms, others are tighter and have more enclosing privacy. A CCRC home may have such niceties as a sauna or steam shower, an upper level deck, a sunroom, clerestory windows, a second level master suite, a first floor master bedroom, a plant room, a huge back yard or a small back yard. A few homes have a pool in the back yard. If you are looking for a unique home, fairly close-in to the city with nice amenities, you can find it here.
We are in the acclaimed Cherry Creek School District. Your child will be bused to Laredo Middle School and Smoky Hill High School. Sagebrush Elementary School is a neighborhood school easily within walking distance.
If you like biking walking, or running, the entrance to Cherry Creek State Park is two blocks away. You can also go boating, swimming, and fishing in the park. Deep in the park there is a leashless area where your dog can run free.
There are several shopping malls in the area. Southlands is southeast just past E 470 on Smoky Hill Road. Arapahoe Crossings is south on the corner of Parker Road and Arapahoe Road; Aurora Town Center is north at I-225 and East Alameda Parkway; Cherry Creek Shopping Center is north and west—go north on Parker Road and east on East Alameda Parkway; and Park Meadows is south on Parker Road to C470, then west to Quebec and north on County Line Road.
Most useful, Safeway Food and Drug and King Soopers Grocery are two miles east on the north side of East Quincy Avenue on South Buckley Road. Across the street from them are Target and Lowes. Albertson’s Grocery is a little more than two miles away, just past Smoky Hill High School on Smoky Hill Road.
If you commute to downtown or the Tech Center, there is bus service available just outside the entrance to Cherry Creek Racquet Club. From here you may go by bus (or car) to Nine-Mile at the corner of Parker Road and Peoria to catch RTD light rail service.
There are 91 single-family homes in the Cherry Creek Racquet Club. Our homeowner association is self-managed with volunteers from the neighborhood. According to our covenants, board members may not be paid for their services. Our neighborhood is covenant protected so we may keep up our home values and the value of our neighborhood.
Our dues are $190.00 per year (as of 2022). Owners are responsible for shoveling snow in front of their homes, maintenance—including mowing and general gardening, internal and external upkeep of their home including the roof. Dues pay for upkeep of the common area owned by the association including the two tennis courts, the entrance, and the area on the west side of South Abilene Circle (please see map). The city owns our streets and should plow them, but since plowing may come later than we would wish, we have a contract with a private company for snowfalls of six inches or more.
