Elaine is a native Detroiter who attended Detroit Public Schools. She received her B.A. from the University of California in Los Angeles and her M.A. from the University of Michigan.
Elaine taught English and Spanish at Northeastern High School and went on to manage the teaching staff at General Motor’s Training Center that served as a preparatory for young people entering the world of work.
In 1981, she joined her husband’s business Michigan Box Company, a manufacturing and distribution company of corrugated boxes and packaging supplies, where Elaine is Vice President and CEO.
She is also a board member of Midcorr Packaging in New Carlisle, Indiana, and member of the Association of Independent Corrugated Converters, National Association of Woman Business Owners (NAWBO), Detroit Institute of Arts, and is also a trustee of the Michigan Opera Theatre.
