Dave Bing, chairman of the Bing Group, and Rev. Joseph Jordan of Corinthian Baptist Church, plan to build 34 single-family homes near Caniff, Oakland and Hague in Detroit?’s north end. The new homes, ranging in sizes from 1,200 to 1,600 square feet, will be built on 45- to 60-foot lots and will sell for $120,000 to $140,000.
The homes are only phase one of The Oakland East North Development Project, long-term plans also include rental homes, a Senior Citizens complex and commercial and retail structures.
On Friday, August 23, the groundbreaking ceremony took place and included Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and other officials. The project will begin with the construction of two models that will be completed by the end of the year.
