CODE COMPLIANCE

Homeowner or Tenant Responsibilities:

Litter/Weeds/Grass: Area between the front curb & the middle of the alley kept free of litter; no weeds or grass taller than 12”.

Open Storage: Any item that is not customarily used or stored outside or is not made of material that is resistant to damage or deterioration from exposure to the outdoors cannot be placed outside for more than 24 hours.

Garage Sales: Two garage sales per year per property. Each sale can not last longer than three days. Cannot sell merchandise acquired for purpose of resale. Sign may ONLY be placed on the property of the sale.

Signs: No signs may be placed on a utility pole, tree, or the City right-of-way. Fine up to $2,000 per day, per violation.

Motor Vehicles: Inoperative and partially dismantled and have expired license tags or safety stickers are considered “junk motor vehicles”. Vehicles will be ticketed and if not moved or made operable and legal, can be towed and sold for salvage.

Obstructions: Street, alley, sidewalk, and public area must be kept clear of tree limbs, shrubs, and vines which may obstruct vehicles or pedestrians.

Substandard Structure: Defined as peeling paint; leaking roof; electrical and plumbing problems; holes in the wall, floor, and ceiling; decaying wood.

Open/Vacant Structure: Vacant or vacant portion of a structure must be securely closed to prevent unauthorized entry. The City has right to secure at owner’s expense.

Home Business: You may not employ more than two persons other than the occupants of the residence, and you may not advertise nor use a sign advertisement on or off the premises.

Noise: A person may not generate loud and raucous noise that interferes with the public peace and comfort. Call 911.

Parking: Motor vehicles must be parked on an approved surface: concrete, asphalt or 6 inches of gravel with a border. Vehicles may not be parked on the lawn.

Watering: It is a violation to water lawn or landscape in manner that wastes water or causes runoff on to sidewalks, street, driveway, or other non-landscaped area. Between June 1 and Sept 30, watering is prohibited between 10 am and 6 pm. Report any of above violations to 311 or 911 where noted.
