Barking Dogs a Nuisance

We have been getting complaints lately regarding people leaving their dogs out for long periods of time and that they are barking and barking and barking. Some as late as midnight and others for
long periods during different times of the day.

We are advising neighbors that are having problems with this to please speak to the pet owner. If you get no response your last resort can be to file a complaint with neighborhood services but first document dates and times of the excessive barking to support your complaint. If the weather is bad (as the whole winter has been) and the dog has no shelter and is out for a long period of time you can call police at the non-emergency number and a citation can be issued or they can have the pet removed from the property.

If you are a dog owner please have consideration for your neighbors.

Even 10 or 15 minutes of barking can be considered excessive. longer just abusive. Please do not let your dog(s) out and let them disturb your neighbors with this problem. Just because you let your dog out and close the door and can't hear them, does not mean your neighbor cannot and may, disturbing the quiet enjoyment of their homes or their sleep

Thank You!.

It's hard to believe anyone would let a dog outdoors for any extensive period of time without shelter considering the weather conditions we've had.

Barking

I agree this is a problem specially in the 3900 block of w. Clybourn.
Their is a house on Clybourn with 3? dogs and they seem to be out a lot and bark a lot.
Also there is a (new?dog? New? Property Owner?) on the corner there that it seems the dog is left out even when the owner is not home for a few hours. Also when the owner is home and the dog is out he barks. Last night he was out after midnight when we went to bed and he was the first thing we heard in the morning when we got up.
It was not mentioned this problem is going to escalate when we start having our windows open-more people will hear this and be upset.

Problem Barking

The barking is a real problem already and I agree why would you leave your dog out in such extreme weather?
If someone claims their dog is an ''outdoor dog'' they should not be allowed to bark for extensive periods of time... We are in the city and are in close proximity to other people and their familys.

Yip, bark, etc.

I have a dog and love him like my kids.
He's a great companion and when we let him out to do his ''business'' we are careful not to let him outside to long and to respond to his first few barks and let him back in. Besides he does NOT like the weather now and makes a beeline for the door as soon as he is done.
Other pet owners especially in the area of Clybourn mentioned please have some consideration for your neighbors and your pet.
