Register Your Storm Shelter

Call the Action Center at 297-2535 to register your shelter

If you're trapped after a tornado or other disaster, will police and firefighters be able to find you? Call the Action Center to add your shelter to the list they're making for rescue workers. The call will likely take less than 1 minute. They need to know your address, the location of the shelter on your property, above ground or below ground, your name and your phone number.

Have disaster supplies on hand:

Flashlight and extra batteries.
Battery operated radio and extra batteries.
First aid kit.
Emergency food and water.
Manual can-opener.
Essential medicines.
Cash and credit cards.
Sturdy shoes.
Spare keys to vehicles.
Personal identification.
Food and water for your pets.

Develop an emergency communications plan.

Have a plan for getting back together in case family members are separated from one another during a tornado. Ask an out-of-state relative or friend to act as the family contact. After a disaster, it's often easier to call long distance. Make sure everyone in the family knows the name, address and phone number of the contact person.
