On September 16, 2010 at approximately 10:36am a resident of Woodlawn Park found a strange car in his driveway with the license plate covered up with a rag. Upon entering his home he was confronted by a white male, who assaulted the homeowner, and left with several items including a firearm. The burglar was arrested the next day and charged with the burglary and other charges. The homeowner had to be taken to the hospital for injuries.
This is a reminder to all of our residents that if you arrive home and find what the above resident found in his driveway, a window or door pried open or anyother suspicous problems call the police and do not go into your house even though you may be armed.
In an earlier writing while I was delivering fliers prior to one of our recent elections, I found numerous doors open with the storm doors unlocked and the home owner in their back yard doing yard work. Be on the safe side when you go out of your home to do work, lock the doors behind you so a stranger cannot just walk in and steal you blind.
Always be on the lookout for strangers in the neighborhood and vehicles driving in the neighborhood that appear suspicous.
