Barking Dogs and Dogs off Leash in Brookfield Village

Spring 2010

With warmer weather here, many dogs are spending more and more time outside enjoying the nice weather.  There are a lot of dog owners in BV so we understand the need for fresh air and play time, but when it turns into extended periods of barking, it can easily disturb your neighbors.

Even during the day, we have families with napping young kids, work-at-home employees, retirees and neighbors sleeping before their late shift begins.  Bottom line, we need to be courteous and control our barking dog so it does not disturb our neighbors.

This is a concern for the BVHA, but it is ultimately an issue for the Hilliard Police department to resolve and enforce.  Please talk to your neighbor first and then contact the Hilliard PD if you are unable to resolve.

We have also seen some issues with people walking their dogs without a leash or letting their dog loose in their yard without a leash.  For the safety of all our neighbors, a leash is required by city code and is enforceable by the Hilliard Police department. Although your pet may be gentle around you, once they see a stranger, playing child or another (leashed) dog, they can quickly turn into play or attack mode and cause unintended interaction with others.  Don't take a chance that your pet could injure another neighbor, child or animal. .

Thank you for your attention to this noise and safety issue.
