Cars parked on the streets

Posted in: Huber Ridge Area

Can someone please tell me why no one in the neighborhood parks their car in their driveway. I think it is really dangerous when there are cars parked on both sides of the street and I have to pull over to let another car pass. This is especially dangerous on Cairo Rd. Please have some respect for others and clean out your garage so you can park off the street.

cairo rd has a problem with people speeding through the community. the residents have asked for help several times and received a speed reminder with a rader that tells you your speed. this was posted there for several days 2 years ago, our police dept. patrols the area occassionally looking for violators. the residents on cairo say they still have a problem with excessive speeders using cairo for a cut through, so they have parked their cars on the street to slow down the speeders. is it dangerous? or is it even more dangerous to allow speeders to hit the kids on the street? the answer the residents on cairo have choosen is kids first. this practice could be in use on other streets in our community also. as a driver it could be dangerous, as a parent it could be fatal. i do not live in the general area of cairo and on occassion use cairo to access glengary shopping center from the community. i have found myself pulling over to allow cars from the opposit direction go through, and it can be a inconvienance. but i remind myself of the action these residents have taken to protect their families and understand my inconvienance. right or wrong this is what the residents on cairo feel will and does work for now. this may not be what you want to hear, but it is the answer i received from the residents there.

thank you

So when it says do not park your car on the street in a snow emergency. How is this safe when there are cars all over the road as well as sleet and ice and snow, and I am going 5 miles an hour and still having to avoid sliding into a car parked on both sides of the street so if a child is playing on the sidewalk, I slide into because I cannot avoid hitting a car when I can barely get through.. I find it silly that there is no other way to avoid speeders than to try to block their path when I am just trying to get home to my own children.

Why do I pay taxes, has anyone ever heard of putting in SPEED BUMPS. That would probable solve the problem.
