Welcome ''home'' to Bethany!

Welcome to Bethany United Church of Christ, a faith community of friendly, informal folk. We are located at 10400 Old Preston Highway, just south of the Gene Snyder Freeway and just north of the Bullitt County line.

Our 6 1/2 acre site serves as a tranquil ''oasis'' in the midst of a rapidly changing community and is a wonderful place for a game of baseball or volleyball, for a church picnic, for outdoor worship, or for sitting and meditating on the beauty of God's creation. There is a walking path around the perimeter of our site, to which we invite all who seek a safe and peaceful place to walk.

Our Life Together

We gather on Sunday mornings at 10:30 for Worship. From September to May each year, we also have Christian Education for all ages at 9:00 AM. Special study groups and services are held at various times throughout the year.

We volunteer for service in Christ's name through Ministries United South Central Louisville, ''walks'' (such as the Hunger Walk and AIDS walk), and in a variety of other ways throughout the year.

We love to eat together, play together, learn together, worship and pray together!

Our newest ministry is our Health Ministry. We have a Parish Nurse and Pastoral Counselor on staff.

Giving thanks for the spirit of God which anoints us, as heard and understood through scripture, given witness in the person of Jesus Christ, and experienced in our lives:

We are called to be a community of love where hearts are open to the spirit of God, where God's good news is heard and proclaimed, and where the love of God is embodied, that we may grow in our own spiritual journeys, that we might join together in fellowship and faith, that strangers may become friends, as we minister to those who are in situations of captivity and oppression and with all those who know the hurts of life;

May we bring God's hope and know God's peace.
