1) PATROL "Shifts" are currently scheduled on a calendar week long basis, running from Sun. to Sat. It is
only expected that volunteers Patrol as their time and schedules allow. It is preferred that you PATROL 1
to 3 times during the TIME BLOCKS you're able to cover. You may only be called upon to PATROL 3 to 4
times per year! DRIVE CAREFULLY!!
2) The Higher risk TIME BLOCKS are;
WEEKDAYS;
A) 7:30 A.M. to 11:30 A.M. (possibly NOON), with 10:30 A.M. being a known high risk. During this
time block residential burglary would be the main, on going, concern. Any moving/removing of items
from a home to any vehicle or trailer, should be very carefully scrutinized. Be very careful in how you
determine if it is legitimate, as it would obviously be too risky to ask if they are the bad guys during the
commission of a crime.
When in doubt always CALL 911!
B) 1:00 P.M. (possibly NOON) to 4:30 P.M. (possibly 6:00 P.M.) To include 3:00 P.M. to 4:45 P.M.
(possibly 6:00 P.M.) during the school year, for after school juvenile crime.
C) SUNSET to 5 HOURS into DARKNESS.
WEEKENDS;
D) Sunday 7:45 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. SUNSET to 5 hours into DARKNESS, with 10:30 P.M. a known
high risk.
E) Saturday SUNSET to 5 HOURS into DARKNESS.
3) A PATROL should cover each street at least once and should last 15 to 45 minutes or longer. Parking
and observing is suggested (Flashing roof light may be turned off!) Also parking and observing (with
flashing light turned on) in a high visibility location [e.g. on a cross street or drive near N.W. 50th St. or N.
Villa or N.W. 52nd Street etc.], or, at a Four-Way or Three-Way Intersection.
4) The PATROL AREA, currently has been expanded through a Co-operative effort with the 50 Penn.
West N.A., in which, we are utilizing Volunteers that live outside of the Boundaries of the Belle Isle View
N.P.A. Inc., [which are; the Center Line of N.W. 50th St. to the Center Line of N.W. 52nd St. and, the
Center Line of N. Villa Ave. to N. Miller Place, (both sides of the street)] as shown on our "BIG TEAM"
CRIME PREVENTION AND PROTECTION MAP.
The EXPANDED PATROL AREA shall be the [currently over-lapping] Boundaries of the 50 Penn. West
N.A., which are N. BARNES Ave. to N. MILLER BLVD. (and N.W. 50th St. to N.W. 52nd St.)
5) EQUIPMENT, MANDATORY;
A) CELL PHONE; Your main weapon and line of defense, by CALLING 911! [or Two-way RADIOS
& PHONE]
B) FLASHING AMBER ROOF LIGHT: To be turned ON while driving . Be prepared to turn it OFF,
before possibly causing traffic confusion. This is rare, but drivers may stop or pull over, causing a
hazardous situation.
Also, on busier streets and times of day, you may want to temporarily increase your speed and/or turn
on to a side street.
With the high rate of "Road Rage" incidents these days, we wouldn't want YOU, or the PATROL,
involved in one.
C) MAGNETIC "PATROL" SIGNS; To be affixed to the doors on each side of your vehicle. A third
N.P.A. owned sign exists, for use on the rear of suitable vehicles [or for EMERGENCIES] and is kept
by the Neighborhood Security General [N.S.G.]. Also an additional set of signs and an additional
flashing roof light are owned and kept by one of our Neighborhood Security Colonels [N.S.C.].
Tip; Do not affix the magnetic signs over trim strips or pronounced body lines so as to cause air flow
beneath , as they may blow off at higher air speeds!
D) PATROL OPERATIONS MANUAL;
1) Please REVIEW it often. It represents the best efforts and experience of the OKC POLICE, the
NEIGHBORHOOD ALLIANCE [and many other NEIGHBORHOOD PATROLS] and the BELLE
ISLE VIEW N.P.A. Not to mention the many Volunteer hours needed for its semi-customizing,
production, and distribution to you, the PATROL VOLUNTEER.
2) FILL OUT the PATROL - REPORT LOG after any INCIDENT or suspicious PERSONS
DESCRIPTION/suspicious VEHICLE DESCRIPTION and/or TAG#.
3) RETURN, or photocopy and return, a REPORT LOG sheet, IF WARRANTED, to an Officer of the
Belle Isle View N.P.A. Inc. At least Six copies are provided in this manual. Additional copies are
available.
