RTD has been considering a connector between the Broadway Station (at I25) and downtown, along the Broadway/Lincoln corridor. After a lot of discussion and planning, a Light Rapid Transit (bus) method had been selected, and plans were progressing.

Yesterday RTD has announced that due to economic constraints and outer-city routes having higher priority, consideration of this route will be deferred for 10 years (which usually means permanently).

Many people in Baker (including myself) were excited about the prospect of particularly light rail being reestablished in the area after an absence of 60 years, and excited about the amenity that this form of transport provides for the areas it serves.

It seems to me that RTD's unilateral abandonment of this inner-city upgrade of their system in favor of the suburbs is a discriminatory action taken by RTD that results in our taxes being used elsewhere.

I would ask concerned residents and other interested parties (including Broadway businesses) to contact BHNA to explore ways to force RTD to continue development of this proposal.
